Hey There, I'm Jessa! 

 

I have taught fitness since 2011. I  began with learning Pilates through Ellie Herman in San Francisco , and teaching Zumba. I  began to gravitate towards women's health with a certification in Mamalates (postpartum Pilates) and expanded through advanced training with a Doctor of Physical Therapy via the Core Exercise Solutions program. I have worked in Physical Therapy clinic settings and continue ongoing education to support evidence-informed recovery for diastasis recti and pelvic floor strength.

 

My movement background began with classical ballet training at age five. I performed with Oregon Ballet Theatre and Jefferson Dancers, earned a BFA in Ballet from the University of Utah, and performed with Utah Ballet before dancing professionally in Salt Lake City and San Francisco.

 

A personal experience navigating hip labral injury and rehabilitation informs my commitment to the intersection of clinical rehabilitation and fitness. My teaching approach emphasizes precise movement mechanics, individualized progression, and supportive, client-centered instruction that empowers individuals to build resilience, confidence, and sustainable strength.

I served for four years as a Mat Pilates instructor with the Basecamp Community Health Program at Providence St. Vincent Hospital, where I delivered accessible, community-based classes focused on improving mobility, strength, and overall health.

In addition to clinical and community programming, I have provided corporate yoga instruction for Community Development Partners for eight years, designing workplace wellness sessions that support injury prevention, stress reduction, and sustainable movement practices.

Since 2015, I have specialized in Prenatal and Postnatal private training. Teaching Pilates since 2011, I have extensive experience supporting women in rehabilitating diastasis recti, strengthening the pelvic floor, and safely returning to functional movement and daily activity.

I have taught at Club Pilates Camas since 2022, working with special populations, and currently teach at Pilates Plus North West, where I lead specialized population programming and small-group classes ranging from Fundamentals through Intermediate and Advanced levels.

My teaching approach emphasizes individualized progression, precise movement mechanics, and supportive, client-centered instruction that empowers individuals to build strength, resilience, and confidence in their bodies.

Most days you can find me hiking with my dog, doing yoga, pilates or strength training. I like good coffee shops and quaint boutique stores. I also love a good Netflix series and comedy specials. 

 

When I’m not busy working on my business and helping others, you can catch me traveling up and down the west coast, helping my husband who is a professional photograph, and spending time with friends and my dog. She is a licensed Therapy Dog and we do volunteer visits to various facilities.

FIVE things you might not know about me:

  1. I performed in the 2002 Winter Olympic Ceremonies while I was attending University of Utah on a dance scholarship.

  2. I have fun goofing around creating my own dance moves

  3. I absolutely love the flying trapeze and would take classes if it was locally available.

  4. I enjoy indoor skydiving and any friendly competition in games and recreation.

  5. I have probably injured most parts of my body due to my hypermobility.
